London- Where to Stay

Posted on: January 6, 2018

There are so many options on where to stay in London, so I’m going to break it down by different types of travelers.

Young, Single Travelers:

The Curtain Hotel– Located in the heart of Shoreditch, this hotel gives off all of the trendy vibes.  Perfect for you young, cool kids, who are looking for a fun place to stay in the middle of all the nightlife.  The Curtain is a hotel, restaurant, live music venue and members club.

Romantic Getaway:

The Savoy Hotel– Located steps away from Covent Garden and the River Thames, this luxury hotel has it all– fine dining, award winning mixology bars and a spa.  Also, don’t forget to try London’s finest Afternoon Tea in the Thames Foyer!

The Ritz Hotel– We visited the Ritz at Christmastime and it was ADORABLE!  Decked out with all the decorations, the Ritz is perfect for a romantic Christmas Getaway.  The rooms are a little older, which I don’t personally love, but I know some people love the character.

The Mayfair Hotel–  This is where I stay most often when I come to London.  It’s a beautiful hotel, with a lively bar, relaxing spa and great staff.  I’ve been upgraded to their suites when I’ve stayed here and they’re amazinggg.  If you have the ability to splurge for a suite, it’s well worth it.

Group or Family Travel:

My most recent trip to London was with my family for Christmas, so we all wanted to stay in the same place.  We looked on Airbnb, Homeaway, One Fine Stay and VRBO.  We ended up finding an apartment on VRBO that is operated by a company that has apartments in London and Paris. To be honest, the apartment wasn’t as great as we thought it would be, as it does look a little nicer in the pictures, but it was still fine.  It was basic, clean and in a great location, it just wasn’t as cozy as we’d like for Christmas.  However, if you are looking for a nice, clean place to stay with 3 bedrooms, this is a great option.  Starting at £150 a night, you can’t beat this price for a 3 bedroom apartment!  You can book this apartment directly here.
